Vote now to help War Child support survivors of sexual violence!
War Child is excited to share that we’ve been shortlisted for the HiiL Innovating Justice Challenge! But now we need your help.
By casting your vote in support of War Child and our Mobile Legal Aid program in Northern Uganda, you can help us receive an additional €25,000 (36,500 CAD) worth of funding that would provide access to justice for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.
Mobile Legal Aid in Northern Uganda
Our Mobile Legal Aid units bring refugees and Ugandans access to justice in the form of traveling “one-stop shop” protection units.
These mobile units are staffed with legal officers, who are able to register cases, perform mediation and meet with clients onsite, providing sexual and gender-based violence survivors – most often women and children – with legal protection and referrals to other services including health and psychosocial support. Arming survivors with the ability to stand up against offenders also helps combat impunity and prevent repeat offenses.
Access to justice for South Sudanese refugees
According to the United Nations, since violence in the region erupted once again last month, over 52,000 refugees fled South Sudan, crossing the border into neighbouring Uganda. More than 85% of the refugees are women and children under the age of 18.
The need for access to justice in Northern Uganda is greater than ever. Please show your solidarity with survivors of sexual and gender-based violence by voting now!
