Earlier today, the Slaight Family Foundation announced an incredible seven-figure commitment to War Child as part of a multi-organization pledge to promote human rights. Mr. Slaight, a long-term supporter of War Child and prominent philanthropist, announced a $7,000,000 commitment to seven international organizations, including Stephen Lewis Foundation, Human Rights Watch and others.

The family’s grand gesture came with a challenge: a call for Canadians to consider their personal pledge to human rights though an ongoing commitment to a trusted international organization.

The Slaight Family has seen first-hand how War Child protects children and families through our Access to Justice programs, which inspired the family of four to support families who face the impunity of war.

“My family has supported War Child for nearly a decade because we believe their work makes a substantive impact in the lives of children and families facing the tragedy of armed conflict. We have travelled to the field and seen first-hand how this work makes a lasting difference. We are proud to make this new commitment to enable the expansion of the Access to Justice programs to reach over one million people in the next four years to protect human rights.”  – Gary Slaight

This donation will enable War Child to expand justice programs to reach over 1.1 million people in six conflict zones by the end of 2018.
